Music Makes the World Go 'Round

Music has always been one of the most important parts of my life. I've been obsessed with listening to music since I was a toddler and haven't gone one day without music since. I think it's pretty incredible how a few people just wanting to have some fun and make a few bucks can come together and produce such a harmony of sounds that flow together and touch millions of peoples' lives. I've always wanted to be able to re-create those sounds because I thought it would be the best thing since sliced bread.

Ever since I picked up my first guitar three years ago, I haven't looked back and I play every chance I get. I've taught myself every technique and solo I know and have never even taken a lesson. Since then, I've played for people, become really knowledgeable about music, and I love it. I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Everything Happens for a Reason

Oh, not this phrase again. We have all heard it throughout our life from parents, friends, loved ones, whoever it may be during times of hardship. There is always that one person to tell you, "Everything happens for a reason." Do we truly believe it? Maybe we don't when we are frustrated or irritated over some matter. Maybe we do when we reflect on the situation a few days later. Does everything happen for a good reason, or a bad reason? It doesn't seem fair, why did it happen? Everyone has had these questions run through their thoughts, but there's only one person who can decide: and that's you.

In the Blink of an Eye

There's an expression many use when something happens unexpectedly quick. People will say "that happened in the blink of an eye." Lately, I have become too familiar of the feeling that everything happens in the blink of an eye. Sometimes, you have to stop and take a look around at what you have while you have it and fully appreciate it. Nothing really lasts forever, whether we like it or not. We learn to deal with the bad circumstances that happen, and enjoy the good ones that cross our path. I've learned again that you can't prevent the bad circumstances from happening, no matter how much you want to. You can make the best out of the situation at hand and that's all you can really do. The rest is up to fate.

Something About Nothing

While sitting around thinking about a topic to write about, it never really occurred to me that I could write a blog without a topic. I mean, it can just be completely random like this just improvising as you go along. Many performers and writers have made success possible from improvisation. Song writers sometimes make millions on a song with improvised guitar riffs and lyrics. Comedians pick a topic to start off a show to thousands of fans with and improvise a good amount of their material.

Sometimes, spur of the moment ideas are more successful than planned ones. With a great mind and imagination, the possibilities are endless.

The New Drug

It's the newest craze all the teenagers are addicted to. Whether you're a straight A student or F's all the way, you've done it more than once. It rarely helps, but when it does you feel determined to try the drug again. What's the addiction? We all know it as procrastination.

Procrastination is your best friend when that important essay is assigned on Friday. That is, until Tuesday rolls around and you've been stabbed in the back. Even after a bad grade on that essay, you feel determined to procrastinate again. Maybe in the same class, maybe a different one. Three bad assignments, one infinite campus check, and a day before Flex Friday later, you decide you're through with procrastination for good...

...Or maybe until next week. Oh procrastination, you're my worst enemy.

Insiders

Ah, those good ole inside jokes. A classic part of daily conversation. Not a day goes by when I don't get involved in a new one. From the hilarious routines of hanging out at Brian's house and his mom's strict rules, a story that gets funnier everytime, to the electric cricket family reunions in english class. From the oh oh my god song to the "spiderwebs" in Pre Calculus. How I could continue to go on about insiders, but only a few would get the jokes.

Insiders are also a great excuse to get out of telling a story. Someone asks you what's so funny, and you tell them it's an insider so they won't think you're talking about them. Or you're just too lazy to tell the story. Whichever one it is, it's the ultimate way to get out of telling those funny stories and they never get old.
